Philadelphia

I cannot explain how happy I am to go to Philadelphia. I know it's pretty close to New Jersey, but I am pretty sure it will be oodles of fun!!!! Something I am also excited about is that we are going to Lancaster. It will be an interesting experience to go see some Amish people up close. Also something else I am excited for is the duck ride. Even though I am not a big fan of ducks, I am looking forward to the ride. I also wonder if we are going to get the same tour guide we saw in the video today in Language Arts(The guy that was dancing). Also I really don't want to go on the ghost spirit tour thingy because I don't like spirits and all that other stuff. But I am willing to give it a try. The biggest thing that I am looking forward to is the SHOPPING!!!!! I can't wait to get souvenirs for my family. Otherwise I know I am going to have fun, How about you???

Battleship New Jersey

The "BB62" is a battle ship located in Camden, NJ. I was recently at an overnight trip there with the girl scouts from all over New Jersey. I thought I would totally hate the trip, but surprisingly it was totally awesome. I wished I stayed for more than one day though.
The "BB62" is a fun place to go to. It is so big, you wouldn't believe it. When I went the first thing we did was get a snack(it was a long ride, we ran into traffic because there was an accident on the NJ turnpike, causing 5 fatalities). The next thing we did was we went on a 4D plane ride. The ride was taken place during a war or something. I forgot. It was really rocky and shakey.
After the ride was finished we gathered up our things and headed to our bunks. To tell you the truth, the bad thing was that it was so compacted together it was hard for us to pass by each other(also another thing is that the stairs(which they call ladders by the way) were VERY steep). When that was finished we went down to eat dinner. What we had was mash potatoes, meatballs, mixed vegetables, and bread. The mixed vegetables were GROSS!!!! , but the other stuff was pretty good. For desert we had package cookies.
When dinner was finished we went to go on a tour of the boat. Even though the tour guide wasn't in the navy, he was very informative. The best part of the boat was the captains quarters. It was so elegant, you wanted to sleep right there. Any way the creepy part of the boat was the wax figures inside the secluded rooms. I got scared every time I saw one.
When the tour was finished(like about 10:30) we went to this tent thingy and we saw a show with singers(that no one knew) singing some songs(yet again that no one knew). It was pretty interesting though.
It was a really long show, but when it was over we went back inside for some hot chocolate and a night snack. After the snack we went back to our bunks. Once we got there we really didn't have anytime to get settled in. The lights went off, but my troop was still up. Luckily we had our flashlights.
The beds were uncomfortable at first, but once you get used to it, it feels so good.
The next day was pretty short. We did a flag salute and went to a speech about women being in the military/navy. When the long talk was over, we went to the gift shop and went back home.
The Battle Ship of New Jersey was a really fun experience. When you are inside the boat, you don't feel like your really in the boat, you know what I mean? The only thing is, is that you CANNOT, I repeat CANNOT bring any electronics or else they will take it away( you'll get it back eventually). Other wise it was super fun and I would totally do it again!!!!!
!!!!Please Comment for more details!!!!!

A Midsummer Nights Dream Questions

Question 4: My least favorite character was Egeus. I did not like him because he would not let his daughter, Hermia, marry Lysander. He would rather have her executed than get married. He should just be happy that she found someone she loved and wanted to spend the rest of her life with. If he did have her get executed he probably live with the regret for the rest of his life.

Question 6: I really enjoyed reading the play. It was even more fun to watch our classmates act it out. I think that Shakespeare is a really good at writing plays. I liked reading Romeo and Juliet in 5th grade. At points it was really funny, other parts were very confusing. I would really hope to read more later in life.

Question 3: My favorite scene was when the craftsmen were acting out their play. I thought it was so hilarious that Bottom kept talking out of character. In the movie it was a lot funnier. Maybe if the audience were not talking so loudly, maybe Bottom would not have to speak out of character. Another part that I thought was funny was the man in the moon. In the movie the guy was holding a lantern. Instead of holding it he was suppose to be inside. Since he was suppose to be the man in the moon.

Midsummer Nights Dream Act 5

In this act, it is Hippolyta and Thesues' wedding. Lysander, Hermia,Demetrius and Helena wake up. Lysander goes back to loving Hermia, but Demetrius is in love with Helena now. He is a changed man now. Theseus decides that they are ll going to get married. Also today is the day that they put on the play for the wedding. Bottom is normal again. Philostrate tells Hippolyta and Thesues that they are horrible. Hippolyta feels bad, but she watches anyway. While their perfomance Theseus and the rest of the audience keep talking while they are acting. Bottom often gets out of character. In the end when everyone leaves, Puck comes and apologizes if the was any offense to anyone. He also mentions that this was all a dream. Nothing really happened. Puck was just being Puck. He put the audience into a dream.
______________________________________________________________________
Reflection: I think that this play is really good. it was just as I expected it to be. I think it was clever that it was all a dream and that none of this really happened. That the audience was in a dream. Awesome Play!!!!!!!!!!

A Midsummer Nights Dream Act 3 Scene 1&2

Act 3 Scene 1
In the forest the actors are practicing for the play for Thesues' and Hippolyta's wedding coming up. As usual Bottom takes over the rehearsal by stating problems they had to fix. One problem is that two of the characters of the play(Thisbe and Pyramus) talk through a hole in the wall. Since they can't bring in a wall, Bottom says that they should put plaster and other things on a person to make them look like a wall and make a "v" through their fingers so Thisbe and Pyramus can talk to each other. Another thing that Bottom brings up is that they don't want people to think there is a real lion involved. He says that the person playing the lion should show himself to prove that he isn't real. Another problem Bottom says is when Pyrmaus kills himself. Bottom wants everyone to know that he really isn't dead. One last one is when Bottom is concerned about bringing moonlight into the scene. Bottom says that they should just crack a window. When they go over the play Bottom leaves until his part comes back up. While he is gone, Puck comes and turns Bottoms head in to a donkey. Not knowing he looks like a Donkey, he scares everyone away. Titania wakes up to Bottom singing. She falls head over heels for him.

Act 3 Scene 2
Demetruis and Lysander both fall in love with Helena. While in the forest they are all there arguing. Demetrius and Lysander are fighting over Helena. While Hermia and Helena are fighting because Helena thinks Hermia is in on the "prank" also. Demetrius and Lysander at first are saying mean things about Hermia. Eventually they stop because they want to look good for Helena. Helena also brings up the fact that Hermia is shorter than her. Hermia is thinking that Helena used her tallness to have Demetruis and Lysander fight over her. Oberon is mad at Puck for putting the potion on the wrong people, but Puck says it was meant to be. In irder for them to not fight, Oberon orders Puck to make Lysander and Demetrius go so far from each other so it makes them tired. Helena and Hermia eventually fall asleep also. Puck goes and puts the potion in Lysanders eyes so he will fall in love with Hermia again.

Puck and Ashton Kutcher

Ashton Kutcher and Puck are so much alike. For one reason, They play pranks on people. The thing is that their pranking are on different levels. Ashton Kutcher pranks on people(without magic) like it's April Fool's Day all the time. Puck on the other hand is a fairy so he can do what ever he wants. So he turned Bottom into a donkey. Bottoms stubborness is like a donkey. They are the ones that give things a little spice.

A Girl Like Me

A girl like me is a really good book by an author named Ni-Ni Simone. This book is about a girl named Elite, whose mother is addicted to crack, so most of the time Elite has to take care of her twin sisters Aniyah and Sydney, her younger brother Mica and her other brother(who she is trying to keep out of the streets) Ny'eem. She has a best friend, Naja, who is practically an airhead. Elite enters a singing contest to win concert tickets to see her favorite r&b hip hop artist Haneef. Once she is at the concert she was chosen to sing with Haneef. Of course she was scared but she killed it(as in she did good). When she finally has the chance to meet him she has to go home to her siblings. Eventually after school Haneef finds her and takes her to his boat in New York. Elite is currently in a relationship with a guy named Jahaad(but she thinks he is cheating on her). Elite and Haneef are having a good time. A week later she doesn't call her. Eventually he does. To get to the point of the story Haneef falls head over heels for Elite, but Elite isn't telling the truth to him.........and doesn't plan to. It's a great book. I suggest it if you like to read about romance, or maybe in drug addicted parents(not that it's a good thing) or just plain drama. You can find this book at your local library.

Midsummer Night's Dream Act 2 scene 1&2

Act 2 Scene 1
In this scene it starts off with Oberon and Puck and Titania and her fairy. Oberon and Titania are arguing over a child that Titania "kidnapped" to raise him as a son. On the other hand Oberon wants to raise him as a warrior/night. They also accuse each other of cheating on each other. When Titania and her fairy leave, Oberon requests for Puck to find a flower that was hit by cupid's arrow. Once he finds that he's going to squeeze drops of the flower on her eyes while she sleeps. So when she wakes up she will fall in love with something else so it will distract her from the boy so he can take him. Meanwhile when Puck goes to get the flower Helena arrives into the scene with Demetrius. Secretly Oberon is hiding. In the woods Demetrius is obviously telling Helena that he does not love her and never will. Helena does not care. She does not care. When they leave and Puck comes back, Oberon gives Puck part of the flower and tells him to squeeze the flower on a man dressed in Athenian clothing. They all leave afterward.

Act 2 scene 2
Titania's fairy's sing her to sleep. Oberon comes and squeezes the flower juice in her eyes. Meanwhile in the forest Puck finds Lysander and Hermia sleeping away from each other. Puck sees that Lysander is dressed in Athenian clothing so he squeezes the flower into his eyes(even though it was supposed to be Demetrius' eyes). Helena the comes into the scene. Lysander wakes up and sees Helena. He starts to confess his love for Helena and saying that he wasted his time being with Hermia. Helena(being the low self esteem person that she is) thinks he is being mean and sarcastic and leaves. Hermia wakes up from a nightmare about a snake eating her heart and Lysander just sitting there smiling.

A Midsummer Night's Dream Act 1 Scene 1&2

Act 1 scene 1

The scene starts when Hippolyta and Thesues discuss their wedding. Euges comes into the scene because his daughter Hermia is disobeying him by refusing to marry Demetrius. Euges threatens that if Hermia doesn't marry Demetrius she is going to be executed. Thesues says that instead of killing her, they should make her a nun so she wouldn't get married or have any kids ever again. Hermia is in love with Lysander. Egues doesn't like him because he thinks Lysander is a player and he is only using Hermia. While Demetris says that he loves Hermia, Hermia isn't so attracted to Demetrius. Helena(Hermia's childhood friend) is blindly in love with Demetrius. Demetruis has no feelings for her what so ever. Lysander and Hermia make a plan to go to the woods and get married there. They were so happy that they decide to tell Helena. When Lysander and Hermia leave Helena plans on telling Demetrius the "good" news. Helena is thinking that when she tells Demetrius the news that he is going to come back to Helena( Helena and Demetrius had some history). When she leaves the scene ends.

Act 1 scene 2

In this scene it takes place with Peter Quince, Nick Bottom, Francis Flute, Robin Starveling, Tom Snout and Snug. They are all discussing the play they are going to do for Theseus and Hippolyta. Quince is the leader and is assigning roles to everyone. Evidently Bottom is taking control. Since the play is like a love story and there are all guys, some people have to play girls. After assigning roles they disperse. End of scene.

A Midsummer Nights Dream

I think "A Midsummer's Night Dream" is good so far. The only thing that really bugs me is the whole "Love" thing. Love hurts. Sometimes love can't conquer all obstacles. Love can be a huge problem and turn out to the two not even speaking to each other ever again. Either your too embarrassed, scared or you have to much pride. Anyway the book is good. My favorite character is Helena. I wonder how her "plan" is going to work.

Henry V

I know I am a little late on this, the play Henry V was good. I wished we have gotten there before it started so I could have a better understanding of what was going on and who was who. It was funny at some parts. Other parts scared me.

FIELD TRIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am REALLY excited to see the play Henry V. I enjoy reading Shakespeare's art of writing stories or plays. Referring to Simone's blog post about Shakespeare being sexist I did not really see it when we read "Romeo and Juliet", but probably in his time people might have said that women are not as equal as men. People should think that with out man and women there would be anyone, period.

Any way I hope the trip is super fun.
(if you want to give your thoughts on the trip, you can post them here)
